How to Choose a Wine Cellar Cooling Unit
Through the wall units
Simplest install, exhaust heat into an adjacent room or space, and can be audible inside the cellar.
Ducted units
Equipment sits in another room with ducts to the cellar. Quieter in the room and more flexible, but needs space and duct routes.
Split systems
Separate evaporator and condenser connected by refrigerant lines, usually installed by an HVAC technician. Quiet and powerful, and often used for large or glass heavy rooms.
Sizing
Ask for a heat load calculation that considers insulation, glass, room volume, and the surrounding temperature. Oversizing can cause short cycling, and undersizing can cause the unit to run nonstop.
